Epistle: Malachi 3:1-4 Gospel: Luke 2:22-32 Almighty and everlasting God, we humbly beseech Thy Majesty, that as Thine only-begotten Son was this day presented in the temple in the substance of our flesh, so Thou wouldst cause us too to be presented unto Thee with purified hearts. – From the Collect for the Purification of…
Its waters are cold, and rougher than expected, even for a wild olive from Northern climes. My path toward God is that of the philosopher. It’s a difficult one, a spiritually dangerous one, and I’ve come to believe that it’s probably one of the least preferable. St. Thomas’s name speaks truly of the entire profession…
“The virtue of religion gives to God that which we owe Him, and we owe Him what He has inspired us in our tradition to give Him.” – Dr. Peter Kwasniewski Many books, articles, podcasts, YouTube videos, homilies, and lectures have been produced and published on this topic, but as the calendar has turned to…
It’s astonishing that the Legionaries of Christ were not dissolved when it was revealed that their founder, Marcial Maciel, was a monstrous sexual predator who had abused some 60 children and fathered six children by three different women. He is also accused of raping his own biological children. But the order was allowed to continue…
In the first part of this series we discussed the general raising of the dignity of woman in and through Marian devotion with the coming of the Gospel. This is because people instinctively know they cannot love a person they do not know, and without loving such a person, they are doubtful of the idea of entering into a lifelong relationship with him. This is true for our faith as well. Saint…
You see a lot of strange words now in Catholic circles. Words that you would never before have associated with the word “Catholic,” like “shaman” and “cosmos” and “integral ecology.” All having to do with the recent Amazon Synod. You have to wonder: what would such an “inculturated” church even look like? And what about…
A couple weeks ago, I posted my interview with Joe and Mike at Restoring the Faith Media on their new show, Full Disclosure. RTF is yet another Catholic apostolate making great video content, so if you haven’t checked out their channel yet, you should. Today, I wanted to share another one of their interviews, this…
I’m not planning on dying any time soon. I’m nearly 53 years old, and life expectancy statistics tell me that I have at least another 20 to 25 years left on this Earth. And research shows that people of faith tend to be healthier and live longer than those who don’t — about seven years…
Epistle: Romans 12:16-21 Gospel: Matthew 8:1-13 Almighty and eternal God, mercifully look upon our infirmity, and stretch forth the right hand of Thy majesty to help and defend us. – From the Collect for the Third Sunday After Epiphany As the Church moves through Epiphanytide, we can think of this season as the third act…
