Who Would Dare to Love ISIS?

A powerful and thought-provoking video that offers a Christian response to ISIS.

UPDATE (4/21/15 @ 9:29AM): Last night, I was granted an exclusive interview with Michael Chang, the creator of this video. You can read it here.

  1. We as Christians don’t have to go die for Criminal, Rapists, Murderers, these people are operating outside the law, and God has appointed governments as avengers when evil people break the laws, governments are suppose to be a force for good. Ask most of the women who have been rapped, they are wondering where are the Americans. Jesus died for are sins and if someone was brutally rapped or murdered in the states we would be outraged. We don’t have to give up our lives yet, we as Christians are to fight to keep the peace as long as possible and that involves having our government fight this force of evil.

A new commandment I give to you, that you love one another: just as I have loved you, you also are to love one another. By this all people will know that you are my disciples, if you have love for one another.”

(John 13:34-35 ESV) Let love be genuine. uAbhor what is evil; hold fast to what is good. 10 vLove one another with brotherly affection.

ISIS just came out with a video today of more mass murders of people, only reason because they’re Christian, and I hear nothing from …my sisters and brothers in Christ except pithy little reposts basically about nothing near as important as cutting off the heads of our brothers and brutally murdering them. No righteous indignation, no conversation, just basically celebration that we were able to go to Costco, and Sam’s Club, Walmart today, come home to our heated houses, stuff our fat faces until we fall off into a food coma, wake up post more useless nonsense on Facebook while our fellow Christians in the heat of a spiritual evil of Biblical proportions are being brutally murdered.

Matthew Mcconughey shows genuine Love for his brothers which Christians should take note. It isn’t always fuzzy wuzzy.
I have to say I’m feeling a little disgusted myself right now.

    • There is evidence that Muslims are opening up to conversion to Christianity because of what they are seeing perpetrated in the name of their own religion:

      http://www.christianaid.org/News/2014/mir20141204.aspx

Remember the famous adage of Tertullian: “The blood of the martyrs is the seed of the Church.”

But if you’re concerned that we here at 1P5 take too soft of a stance on this issue, I’d encourage you to read our other articles on Islam:

      • It doesn’t mean that we are not to protect ourselves and families, Jesus said it himself. Then He said to them, “But now, he who has a money bag, let him take it, and likewise a knapsack; and he who has no sword, let him sell his garment and buy one. 37 For I say to you that this which is written must still be accomplished in Me: ‘And He was numbered with the transgressors.’[d] For the things concerning Me have an end.” Jesus said we shall live by every Word that proceeds out of the mouth of God or the bible, the Word of God trumps man or any organized religion. Yes I know Jesus said “we our to love our enemies”, but it doesn’t necessarily mean unto death, these are Christians just trying to find work for their families, our governments should be doing something and protecting them. Why is some good coming out of it? Romans 8:28 28 And we know that [a]God causes all things to work together for good to those who love God, to those who are called according to His purpose. I’m sure some people were saved when the Twin Towers fell because God causes beauty from ashes, but that doesn’t mean we are to say us Christians give you our lives and our buildings.
If someone sees me beating dogs with a cane, it might not look very loving but they didn’t see the child they were mauling under the dogs.
Even if the dogs were running to attack the child but I jumped, grabbed the leash, yanked on it and yelled at them to save both the dogs and the child, it might look very loving. Sometimes love looks cruel like the video I posted, but it’s a saving and protecting love.
Let me save all the Christians, Jews, you are trying to behead, and rape first, then if there any of you left alive I’ll show you a protecting love while you are incarcerated awaiting a just trial.

        • I’m completely with you on protecting our families. We have a right to self-defense, as did the martyrs of old. But there comes a point when you can’t defend yourself anymore. When you’ve lost the temporal battle.

This is when you choose to allow your death to be an example.

God writes straight with crooked lines. The very demonic behavior of ISIS is making people around the world rethink Islam. As well they should.

Even the mosque on the temple mount is a sign of things to come. Mark 1314 “So when you see the ‘abomination of desolation,’[d] spoken of by Daniel the prophet,[e] standing where it ought not” (let the reader understand).

          • Allow your death to be an example? WHAT are you talking about? You make an unauthorized response to a terrorist organization and you claim to be speaking for Christians? I DO NOT agree. We should go over there with swords, bombs, and blow them off the map. Those Islamic terrorists and servants of the DEVIL! I cry out to God for their destruction! May the Angel of Death visit their houses!!

      • Thanks for reading my post. What are you doing to combat the false religion of global warming or climate change which totally stands in opposition to the word of God. I hear the Pope is going to show up at the world summit to promote it?

Genesis 8. 21 And the Lord smelled a soothing aroma. Then the Lord said in His heart, “I will never again curse the ground for man’s sake, although the imagination of man’s heart is evil from his youth; nor will I again destroy every living thing as I have done.

        22 “While the earth remains,
        Seedtime and harvest,
        Cold and heat,
        Winter and summer,
        And day and night
        Shall not cease.”

      • Unfortunately, Muslims are not being attracted to the one true Church of Christ, but mostly to Protestant groups, which is certainly better for them than remaining in Islam. In our Catholic Church the befuddled Pope Francis and a whole host of bishops such as Cardinal Dolan are totally blindfolded about islam and many of them including Pope Francis have stated that ISIS has nothing to do with authentic iIlam, as if he actually knew anything about Islam, which apparently he doesn’t. Some bishops are persecuting Robert Spencer, and devout Catholic and a deacon in the Oriental Catholic Church, one of those in the Western World who knows more about Islam than almost anyone else. The fact is that most of the victims of ISIS in Iraq are Catholic, of the Chaldean rite and very little has been done for them.

  2. There are those who have been murdered by Isis, Christians that have been murdered by Isis under the throne of God crying out for vengeance.

Revelation 6:10 And they cried with a loud voice, saying, How long, O Lord, holy and
true, dost thou not judge and avenge our blood on them that dwell on the
    earth?

That hardly sounds as if the love of God will change things in this reality. Oh, it can. God can literally make ISIS accept Him but He won’t.

    • Barry, No one is beyond the love of God. The apostle Paul, prior to his conversion to Christianity martyred Christians, yet he was not beyond the reach of God. Let’s agree to pray for God’s intervention. That His presence would be real and comforting for those suffering, and His love would conquer the evil of ISIS, that His love would reach the vilest, and that individuals within ISIS would come to know the saving grace of Jesus.

      • Why don’t you respond to Scripture given? There have been people raised up to show the power of God. Pharoah and his army for one. Pray for them? There is no problem praying for them but right now there should be NO problem absolutely destroying them.

        • Barry, I don’t think the purpose of this video was to state that there should be no justice for the Christians suffering and being martyred at the hands of ISIS; however, it does point out the unspeakable, unfathomable love of God the Father as displayed through the blood of His Son Jesus Christ. It is easy for us to jump to the “vengeance” side, but God did say, “Vengeance is mine I will repay.” Jesus told us the philosophy of “an eye for an eye” was under the law, but He came to teach us to love our enemies and do good to those who persecute. I don’t have the power to physically fight ISIS, but God could the moment He chose do so, yet He has unbelievable mercy and patience. I’m simply saying, that in the spirit of this video proclaiming the Salvation-giving love of Jesus Christ, let’s remember that these are souls for which Jesus died. Souls he loves as much as he loves your soul and mine. I’ll challenge you to pray that God would bring individuals within ISIS to the saving power of Jesus. You can’t pray for someone’s salvation and still wish God’s vengeance upon them for very long.

          • Laura, you still did not address Scripture.

Revelation 6:10 And they cried with a loud voice, saying, How long, O Lord, holy and
true, dost thou not judge and avenge our blood on them that dwell on the
            earth?

ISIS is a bloodthirsty religion that WILL kill everyone that goes against their religion. This is prophesied but many want to “Rapture” away in the clouds somewhere. We have a POTUS that calls Christians to “come down from their high horse” and then brings up the Crusades, WHICH THE MUSLIMS STARTED.

They do not want salvation and the Lord God could be using them to test the will of His people. Why isn’t the USA, a CHRISTIAN nation DEMANDING that Obama destroy ISIS? This is NOT “eye for an eye” but downright war ISIS is waging. A war against Christianity and ANYONE that dares to stand against them.

The beast is not far behind. We can pray for salvation for everyone but do you not know of the Locust Army foretold in Revelation?

Revelation 9:10 And they had tails like unto scorpions, and there were stings in their tails: and their power was to hurt men five months.

This past weekend more Christians were slaughtered.

          • Barry, You have stated twice that I did not “address Scripture.” You are frustrated that I have not replied to your verse in Revelations, though I have used several references to Scripture. You don’t seem to like the whole Bible. Again, I haven’t opposed justice, I’ve simply pointed out that God tells us to love our enemies…. or did ISIS not count? Did Jesus not die to save them?
Trust me. I grieve for the Christians slaughtered, and I’m likely far closer to much of the slaughter than are you. I live in Africa. Boko Haram and Isis are knocking at our doors. Do I beg God for his intervention? Yes. Do, I cry out “How long, Lord?” Surely, but I also want to see this more deeply than reacting with hate toward my enemies.
p.s. Revelation 9:10 refers to the tribulation. I’m not sure If you are inviting an online debate of post-trib, mid-trib, pre-trib, but this isn’t the time or place.
As I suggested in my first post, let’s pray for those persecuted, and let’s pray for ISIS.

          • Laura, I am not frustrated that you are not addressing the Scripture. I am frustrated you still think ISIS can be won over by Gods love. While that is very much true you must also realize that as the saying goes, action speaks louder than words. Just this past weekend ISIS has slaughtered more Christians. The action that should be taken is that our weak President STILL does nothing. In our country we are frustrated because of that. I am sure you know about the Holocaust. What then? Are we to wait until 6 million Christians are killed before we do anything again? I hope not.

I will pray for you that God allows you and other brothers and sisters in Christ to be protected in this time because Jesus Christ Himself said that He prayed that the Father NOT take us out of this world but protect us from the evil. John 17:15.

p.s. I do not believe in ANY rapture, only the Second Advent of Christ. Those crying from under Gods throne are those that have ALREADY been martyred for His Namesake. So no, I am not looking fore a debate on any rapture.

          • God is love. God is also Judge, God is also a jealous God and declares, “Touch not my annointed.” God is a God of vengeance. David called upon God many times to destroy his enemies and God did. David was also a warrior and killed many of Gods enemies.

The phrase “God is love” only occurs about twice in the whole bible.

If you think you can love ISIS into converting, go ahead. I hope it works.

          • Forgive me brother if I misunderstand, but this isn’t a message of bone-headed pacifism, nor were my comments. God IS a God of justice and vengeance will be HIS, indeed. HIS terms and HIS timing though. No one said Christians weren’t entitled to defend themselves.
The point of the video though is that at the foot of the cross ANY sin is redeemed. Yours, mine and theirs as well. God’s grace is freely extended to everyone. It falls upon every man to choose to accept it. Jesus told us to love and forgive our enemies just as God loves and forgives us.

          • Understood but we ALL love to quote John 3:16 but there we stop when two more verses is John 3:18 and it says,,

John 3:18 He that believeth on Him is not condemned: but he that believeth not is
condemned already, because he hath not believed in the name of the only
            begotten Son of God.

They are condemned ALREADY. I keep saying yes, I agree, God CAN forgive them but brother first they must be convicted by the Holy Spirit and then repent and be saved by the saving grace of God for The wages of sin are death but the gift of God is eternal life through our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.

Right now I see no sign of repentance from ISIS. Can it happen? Of course but do you truly expect it to? We must also be realists.

    • Barry, do you catch the fact that in all of Revelations, the only way in which Christians ever “defeat” the forces of evil is through the blood of the martyrs? Those martyrs you quote ask God to avenge them (it’s never clarified whether their request is the most holy position response or not, but it’s certainly a normal human response), yet the martyrs never once avenge themselves, nor does any other human entity avenge for them.

  3. Who produced this video? It’s amazing.
What many Christians don’t know, Muslims will not admit and they touch on in this video is that Allah has stated in the Quran that he has no sons. The highest rank any Muslim can achieve is that of a servant. We people of the cross are Our God’s Sons.

  6. We are commanded to love our enemy, even I.S.I.S. God is the judge, and we are not. His grace is sufficient and love is powerful enough to change the hearts of everyone, even I.S.I.S.

    • All of life is about judging. Who warped your mind with such nonsense? Jesus taught us to judge fairly and not hypocritically. We can love our enemies even while we must fight them in the sense of wanting their repentance and conversion, just like with a bank robber. Of course God’s love and grace are sufficient, but unfortunately history shows few if any examples of mass conversions of dedicated religious adherents or idealogues. This is not normally how God works. I judge what food to eat, to buy, if the salesman is telling me the truth about a product, what programs, music, TV, movies, etc., to watch. I judge if the guy approaching me on a dark sidewalk looks threatening and if I should lock my doors, etc. There is probably not a waking minute of your day that you don’t judge.

  7. Stupid video with idiotic theology. Typical Estrogen 2 Catholic fluff. You go put your head at their knife, the early Christians had better sense and usually fled from persecution. Muslims will NOT be impressed and neither am I. I DO judge them, as they are evil murderers and God’s wrath abides on them. Jesus taught us to judge fairly and non hypocritically. I do love my enemy and would like them to repent and believe. I also want them stopped and punished by the proper authorities that God places in the world to exact vengeance on evildoers.

  8. If the blood of the martyrs is the seed of the church then why did Christianity all but disappear from most Islamic lands under the relentless persecution of Islam. It only worked in Rome because Roman persecution was not systemic or relentless but rather spasmodic and regional. Christians could bob and weave and wait until the persecution passed, or a new Caesar came along. Islam is much more problematical and to meekly offer up more victims only confirms them in their faith and belief that Islam is superior and is destined to dominate the world. If the soft approach would work on Islam it would have shown some signs of working in 1400 years and millions of Christian martyrs. In all honesty, the only reason Europe is not Islamic today is because some Christians defeated them militarily. Today there is NO Christianity viable enough to do that , that I can see.

  9. I’m not really sure where you get off making a Christian response to ISIS without asking Christians. I get what you’re saying, but who is this army or martyrs coming without swords? I’m confused. Why would we, Christians, go over there to be slaughtered? I don’t get it. Yes, Muslims can convert and be forgiven. This is true. They need to stop their slaughter. Christians need to defend other Christians being slaughtered with guns and weapons. We cannot let them wipe Christianity out of the Middle East.

I’ve watched this repeatedly, and it brings me to tears every single time. Absolutely beautiful. Graceful, strong, moving beyond words, and tastefully produced. Elicits emotion and contemplation with the use of art, not tyrannical ideology. Which is the point!! LOVE, LOVE, LOVE IT! Illustrates the vast divide between radical jihad and Christianity.

  11. He and Jesus will come together and save the
world, I love Imam Mahdi, Savior of the world, Son of
    man in bible.

He will come… The 12th Imam of Shia Muslims
who is mentioned in the Bible as “Son of Man”(Luke 12:40) will return in the
future and after him Prophet Jesus will also return and affirms him. The 12th
Imam or Imam Mahdi is Imam of kindness and mercy and Imam of all people in the
world. He shall guide human beings to prosperity. His main aim is to fight
injustice, inequity, racism, warmongering, violence and every other negative
ideology and act that has widely spread across the world and to establish
justice, peace, welfare, kindness and friendship among all nations in the world.
Among the main enemies of the 12th Imam are extremists and terrorists such as
ISIL(ISIS) and Al-Qaeda who, behind the mask of a false version of Islam,
commit crimes against people and humanity in different parts of the world.
After the return of Imam Mahdi, world will be a much safer, happier and better
    place to live. And He will come… . . . . →WHO IS MAHDI? . Imam Mahdi(A.S) is
one of the grandchildren of Imam Hussain (A.S),imam Hussain is a martyr who
revolted for freedom and they cut of his head in Ashoora day.and they also kill
his little child and they took his family for captivity…and after that
day, people who understand the real meaning of freedom started mourning in
Ashoora day for them each year to not to forget who was Hussain and to follow
their way Imam Mahdi is the person who is named in gospel of Matthew as son of
the human(chapter 24-verses 1-46) Jesus(A.S) talked about his arrival with son
of the human(Imam Mahdi) as Muslims believe they will arrive together at the
end of time and save the world.
