Vatican: Don’t Try to Convert Jews

sacred-heart-646x1024

I am unable to bring myself to comment much on this, since I’m alternating between nausea and the desire to take a sledgehammer to something. Let me just say that this OBVIATES THE INCARNATION AND IS AN OUTRAGE TO CHRIST:

Catholics should not try to convert Jews and should work with them to fight antisemitism, the Vatican has said, in a major new document that draws the church further away from the strained relations of the past.

Christianity and Judaism are intertwined and God never annulled his covenant with the Jewish people, said the document from the Vatican’s commission for religious relations with Jews.

“The church is therefore obliged to view evangelisation to Jews, who believe in the one God, in a different manner from that to people of other religions and world views,” it said.

“In concrete terms this means that the Catholic church neither conducts nor supports any specific institutional mission work directed towards Jews.”

Since I don’t want to field another war in the comment box over various Jewish theories and conspiracies pulled from the darker corners of people’s minds, I’m turning off comments on this one. I am beyond not in the mood.

I will leave you only with these three things.

One:

URGED BY FAITH, we are obliged to believe and to maintain that the Church is one, holy, catholic, and also apostolic. We believe in her firmly and we confess with simplicity that outside of her there is neither salvation nor the remission of sins … Furthermore, we declare, we proclaim, we define that it is absolutely necessary for salvation that every human creature be subject to the Roman Pontiff.

– Unam Sanctam; Papal Bull of His Holiness Pope Boniface VIII; November 18, 1302

Two:

It firmly believes, professes, and proclaims that those not living within the Catholic Church, not only pagans, but also Jews and heretics and schismatics cannot become participants in eternal life, but will depart “into everlasting fire which was prepared for the devil and his angels” [Matt. 25:41], unless before the end of life the same have been added to the flock; and that the unity of the ecclesiastical body is so strong that only to those remaining in it are the sacraments of the Church of benefit for salvation, and do fastings, almsgiving, and other functions of piety and exercises of Christian service produce eternal reward, and that no one, whatever almsgiving he has practiced, even if he has shed blood for the name of Christ, can be saved, unless he has remained in the bosom and unity of the Catholic Church.

Cantate DominoPapal Bull of The Council of Florence; His Holiness Pope Eugene IV; 1438-1445

Three:

Most sweet Jesus, Redeemer of the human race, look down upon us humbly prostrate before Thine altar. We are Thine, and Thine we wish to be; but, to be more surely united with Thee, behold each one of us freely consecrates himself today to Thy most Sacred Heart.

Many indeed have never known Thee; many too, despising Thy precepts, have rejected Thee. Have mercy on them all, most merciful Jesus, and draw them to Thy sacred Heart. Be Thou King, O Lord, not only of the faithful who have never forsaken Thee, but also of the prodigal children who have abandoned Thee; grant that they may quickly return to Thy Father’s house lest they die of wretchedness and hunger.

Be Thou King of those who are deceived by erroneous opinions, or whom discord keeps aloof, and call them back to the harbor of truth and unity of faith, so that there may be but one flock and one Shepherd.

Be Thou King of all those who are still involved in the darkness of idolatry or of Islamism, and refuse not to draw them into the light and kingdom of God. Turn Thine eyes of mercy towards the children of the race, once Thy chosen people: of old they called down upon themselves the Blood of the Savior; may it now descend upon them a laver of redemption and of life.

Grant, O Lord, to Thy Church assurance of freedom and immunity from harm; give peace and order to all nations, and make the earth resound from pole to pole with one cry: “Praise be to the divine Heart that wrought our salvation; to it be glory and honor for ever.” Amen.

– Act of Consecration of the Human Race to the Sacred Heart of Jesus (Pope Pius XI)

UPDATE: The formatting is a mess, but the full text of the document is available from Vatican Radio.

  1. What an embarrassment this Vatican is. No institutional mission? Does anyone there ever crack a bible?

“For I am not ashamed of the gospel. For it is the power of God unto salvation to every one that believeth, to the Jew first, and to the Greek.” Romans 1:16

Apparently our leaders ARE ashamed of the Gospel which brings another verse to mind.

“But he that shall deny me before men, I will also deny him before my Father who is in heaven.” Matthew 10:33
