The Last Testament of Cardinal Pell

In growing numbers under the pontificate of the Dictator Pope, priests, bishops, and cardinals have denounced His Holiness directly or indirectly.

But this is the first time one of Pope Francis’s own Cardinals from his C9 Council has turned against him. And, as it turns out, it was published on the day before that same Cardinal died suddenly.

As we know, Cardinal Pell was tasked with cleaning up the cesspool of the Third Pornocracy known as the Vatican Bank. In what seemed like a coordinated attack, just as His Eminence was cleaning up this swamp in Italy, he was suddenly faced with false charges of sex abuse back in Australia. He went back home to face the music and then suffered for months in jail for a crime he did not commit, meriting a great suffering in imitation of Christ. Now he has gone to his eternal reward. May he rest in peace.

Now that the funeral has passed, we can look at this “final testament” as it were, which was not intended, but is significant since, as we said, this is the only one of Francis’s own cardinals who has done such a thing. “This divine dream [of the synod on synodality],” he writes, “has developed into a toxic nightmare.” He denounces the working document of the Synod as “one of the most incoherent documents ever sent out from Rome.” He goes on:

What is one to make of this potpourri, this outpouring of New Age good will? It is not a summary of Catholic faith or New Testament teaching. It is incomplete, hostile in significant ways to the apostolic tradition and nowhere acknowledges the New Testament as the Word of God, normative for all teaching on faith and morals…

The synods have to choose whether they are servants and defenders of the apostolic tradition on faith and morals, or whether their discernment compels them to assert their sovereignty over Catholic teaching…

By an enormous margin, regularly worshipping Catholics everywhere do not endorse the present synod findings… Why the silence on the afterlife of reward or punishment, on the four last things; death and judgement, heaven and hell?

These are the sentiments of Trads since the beginning of this Synodality game. But Magister also revealed to AP that it was Cardinal Pell who wrote the memorandum on the next conclave. This was last March of 2022, two years after his release from prison. What was His Eminence meditating on during his false imprisonment? Perhaps it was the Last Things that the Synod is so fond of.

With this new revelation of his authorship, this 2022 memorandum forms an additional and explosive piece of his Last Testament. And what does Cardinal Pell say in it? The first paragraph sort of says it all:

Commentators of every school, if for different reasons, with the possible exception of Father Spadaro, SJ, agree that this pontificate is a disaster in many or most respects; a catastrophe… Previously it was: “Roma locuta. Causa finita est.” Today it is: “Roma loquitur. Confusio augetur.”

He notes that His Holiness is silent with the German schismatic synod, but persecutes Trads, nuns, and even “The Christo-centric legacy of St. John Paul II in faith and morals” which “is under systematic attack.”

He goes on, noting the lawlessness of His Holiness’s pontificate, confirming that he is, lamentably, the Dictator Pope. He summarises the reforms of the reforming pope:

Initially the Holy Father strongly backed the reforms. He then prevented the centralization of investments, opposed the reforms and most attempts to unveil corruption, and supported (then) Archbishop Becciu, at the centre of Vatican financial establishment. Then in 2020, the Pope turned on Becciu and eventually ten persons were placed on trial and charged. Over the years, few prosecutions were attempted from AIF reports of infringements.

The external auditors Price Waterhouse and Cooper were dismissed and the Auditor General Libero Milone was forced to resign on trumped up charges in 2017. They were coming too close to the corruption in the Secretariat of State.

He also mentions the Trad cause of the Latin Mass:

The situation of Tridentine traditionalists (Catholic) should be regularised.

At a further and lower level, the celebration of “individual” and small group Masses in the mornings in St. Peter’s Basilica should be permitted once again. At the moment, this great basilica is like a desert in the early morning.

He mentions the naïveté of offering the Medicine of Mercy to the Antichrist:

After Vatican II, Catholic authorities often underestimated the hostile power of secularization, the world, flesh, and the devil, especially in the Western world and overestimated the influence and strength of the Catholic Church.

He warns about the effects of the German schismatic way:

If there was no Roman correction of such heresy, the Church would be reduced to a loose federation of local Churches, holding different views, probably closer to an Anglican or Protestant model, than an Orthodox model.

All in all, this important Last Testament (taking these two documents together) is very significant from one of the “inner circle” cardinals of Francis. It shows just how “mainstream” are the Trad critiques of this pontificate which we unfortunately must make. As lay faithful, we must take this in gratitude for the fact that they show us some of the truth of what’s going on. Let us always remember that God is in control of the Church, no matter how corrupt. As He brought us out of the first two Pornocracies, He will also bring us out of this Third, and gloriously. But not without much suffering on our part. Let us embrace that suffering and suffer manfully as Christians.

May God grant eternal rest to Cardinal Pell, and may we meditate too on the Last Things in order to establish in our hearts what matters most before our own final end.
