For me, the worst part of running a non-profit is fundraising. I got into this business to give something, not to ask for something.
Whether I like it or not, though, our content doesn’t produce itself. This has become my full-time job. From website administration to ad sales to content editing to podcast production to writing to graphic design, there’s enough work for several people. I love my job, but I can’t do it alone. We need to grow our staff to help us to do more and better work, and to continue to expand our offerings.
The good news is that we’re making an impact. We’ve served up over 2.2 million pages of content to hundreds of thousands of users. We’ve been cited and linked to by more websites than I can count. Just this week, we were mentioned twice on Fox News.
Not bad for an upstart Catholic website that didn’t even exist a year ago.
But to keep this going, we need your help.
If every person who visited OnePeterFive in just the past five days donated $5.00, we’d be funded for the next two years. That’s why I’ve decided to start something I call, “Five Dollar Friday.” Every Friday, I’m going to ever-so-gently remind our readers that we need your support. And that $5.00 can actually go a long way.
You see, a little help from a lot of people can move mountains.
Some people don’t make a contribution because they have never been asked. Even more don’t do it because think they don’t have enough to offer to make a difference.
That’s simply not true.
Every month, I pay our web hosting company based on usage. Every month, they bill me for over 100,000 unique visitors. One. Hundred. Thousand. If just two percent of our visitors gave five dollars once a month, we’d hit our goal for the month. Every month.
I don’t want to start sounding like those 1980s TV commercials, but that really is less than the cost of a latte.
So please, if you haven’t donated already, consider making a tax-deductible contribution today. Small contributions are welcome. Monthly small contributions are even better. Large contributions will earn you our immense and undying gratitude!
And remember, if you donate on or before April 30th, your name will be added to the Mass for benefactors that will be celebrated on Saturday, May 2nd, at the Priory of the Annunciation of the Blessed Virgin Mary in Charles Town, WV.
Five dollars. That’s all we ask. Just a small donation from you can help us to meet our goals, and to continue changing the online Catholic conversation.
As always, thank you for reading, and for your support!
