Author: Webster Young

Webster Young is a prolific neoclassical composer for opera, ballet, orchestra, piano, solo strings, and solo guitar. He has 170 works to his credit, written from 1973 to the present. Young has had associations with Benedictine and Trappist monasteries throughout his life. In 2013, he worked for Mt Angel Benedictine Abbey in Oregon, helping to revise their Sunday Mass books and commons. During his time of close association with Benedictine monasteries (and visits to the Trappists), Young wrote about music for Catholic newspapers. He transcribes true Gregorian chants into English to re-introduce the understanding of word painting in Gregorian chant.
