1P5 Podcast – Episode 22: Dr. Michael Sirilla on the Kasper Proposal

E22

On today’s episode, Steve talks to Dr. Michael Sirilla, professor of systematic theology at Franciscan University of Steubenville. Dr. Sirilla is also the editor of a new book from Emmaus Road publishing, entitled, From the Beginning: The Mission and Vocation of the Family in the Contemporary World. The book is the product of a symposium held last month at Franciscan University, in which Cardinal Raymond Burke, former prefect of the Apostolic Signatura, gave a keynote address on the problems inherent with certain proposals made at the Extraordinary Synod on the Family. Several theologians and philosophers provided essays on different questions facing the Synod fathers, and collected them in the book. Dr. Sirilla’s essay was specifically directed to the problems inherent in the Kasper Proposal, and his expertise on this topic as the Synod draws to a close should prove invaluable to our listeners.

  1. Thank you Steve for what you are doing for our Catholic faith. Very small donation just sent. God bless you and your family. Our Lady of Fatima, please pray for us all.

  2. Being a college student, I can’t donate much sadly, but I sent $5 your way & will try to throw in such at least once a month. Hope that’s okay! You guys are one of my favorite traditional Catholics blogs/resources & as you said like for many, you indeed do help keep me sane. lol My dad likes reading your work also. Keep up the good work fighting for the Catholic Faith! 🙂

  3. Steve, what a great discussion! That was one of the best concise discussions on marriage and moral theology if heard. Your questions were asked on behalf of all Catholics and Dr Sirilla’s answers were simple and full. Catholic doctrine is not scary, unfair, nor difficult if taught with conviction and charity. Keep up to great work and pray for the Synod father and the Pope at this pivotal time in church history.
