In recent years, the use of profanity has spread like a virus in our society. Among those with weak or no religious affiliation, this is no surprise, but among devout Catholics who love traditional liturgies, it is a jarring reality. As Catholics who seek to uphold the traditions of the Church, we must, like St.…
Usually, at the beginning of each year, I try to make a prediction about the road ahead. There’s no magic to it: it’s part pattern recognition and part intuition. Last year, I said that I thought 2018 would be the year Amoris Laetitia faded into the background as the most significant battle for Catholics, while…
If you spend very much time in the social media tradosphere, you have likely witnessed the intermittent pleas by Catholics everywhere to cancel your Netflix subscription for the good of your soul and the souls of your children. These cries have become even louder as of late. Apparently, Big Mouth (a cartoon about teen sex)…
This blog post isn’t, properly speaking, about the Church or Catholic life. But it is about life for people in 2019, and it is relevant to every single person reading this right now. According to a story at The Daily Wire, Governor Andrew Cuomo, who signed the bill into…
The least we can say is that the figure of Pope Bergoglio is embarrassing. Perhaps not so much for who he is as a person in himself – but then again… But more so for the people whom he obviously favors, protects, and defends. Or for those who actively contributed to his election. Let’s begin…
In a new report from the Associated Press (AP), it has been revealed that Bishop Gustavo Zanchetta of Argentina was promoted to the position of assessor in APSA — the department which manages the Vatican’s considerable real estate holdings — after he had already been reported twice to the Holy See for allegations of sexual misconduct.…
In my 21 years in Japan, I have attended three funerals. The first, for my wife’s godmother, was a Catholic one, while the other two were not. As my wife is Japanese and is the only Catholic in her family (she converted in her mid-twenties), whenever there is a death in her family, the funeral…
In a motu proprio letter dated January 17th, the pope has made official an action that has been rumored for some time: citing a change in the conditions that had “led the Holy Pontiff John Paul II to the establishment of the Pontifical Commission Ecclesia Dei” (PCED) in 1988, Francis has suppressed the commission and…
