Dear OnePeterFive Confraternity members:
As you may know, I was a co-founder for a new Catholic media apostolate, Pelican Plus last year on the Feast of Our Lady of Victory. I have described OnePeterFive as “digital offence” against the Antichrist Technocracy, whereas Pelican Plus is “digital defence” against the same Technocracy.
As I shared candidly with you last December, being the editor of OnePeterFive has been a very deep, personal struggle for me. Nevertheless, I feel the call of Almighty God to do this work at OnePeterFive because I have vowed myself as a slave of the Immaculata, and I am in her hands to do her will, and not my own.
But running OnePeterFive, as I shared in the aforementioned personal “struggle story,” I felt directly the demonic attacks of using the digital space for good. I have become more and more convinced that this virtual reality of disembodied community, known by the euphemism “social media,” is under the dominion of the fallen angels, since there is so little of this space that is directly controlled by the human will.
Therefore, the angelic will has taken this opportunity to stir up the Conspiracy of Antichrist. And this is just the beginning.
This is not just some exaggeration. As you know, the internet Trad space destroyed the faith of my predecessor, Mr. Steve Skojec, which he wrote about publicly (you should really go subscribe to his Substack by the way). I have felt the same spiritual oppression the more I have worked online. This is why, for example, we stopped having comments on OnePeterFive.com. We saw the conspiracy of the fallen angels pupeteering so many poor souls into sins against truth and charity in this disembodied community. As a result we pushed comments into the Devil’s Playground (aka “social media”) and formed the OnePeterFive Confraternity where we can pray for each other and have a truly fraternal, human connection.
OnePeterFive exists in the raging sea of the Algorithm Beast as a lighthouse in the darkness. Because of you, brothers and sisters of our confraternity, we have the money to build this lighthouse and shine it into the darkness that is the Antichrist Technocracy, aka social media.
What then, is Pelican Plus? It is exists as the digital castle against the Antichrist Technocracy. It is meant to be a refuge from the lies of Satan and his sins against charity. While OnePeterFive is public and free, Pelican Plus is private and paid. Pelican Plus can thus build something of a refuge for Catholics.
I love what the new CEO, Dr. Brian McCall said in his first statement about Pelican Plus:
We maintain the same policy that all Catholics of good will are welcome to express their opinions on the crisis in the church and the world as long as they observe Catholic standards of decency and courtesy.
We are not afraid to confront, report upon and discuss the tough issues of our day. But we also want to create an environment that is free from the vitriol, hatred and distraction of modern social media
He also mentioned how Pelican Plus supports Catholic families so they can create quality content “without resorting to controversy.” This struck my heart deeply because here at OnePeterFive our whole priority is building Christendom and Catholic culture. But our most popular articles are not Catholic culture, but Vatican controversy.
That fact alone shows us what the problem is.
Yes, we will continue to cover the Vatican drama. But the very fact that this drama is our most popular content tells you everything you need to know about why we don’t have more Catholic culture – the Algorithm Beast doesn’t want Catholic culture, it wants sensational drama – and so the Beast spoon-feeds you this drama in your “feed.”
The Algorithm Beast doesn’t want anyone to build, but only tear down, tear down, tear down. But as Blessed Fulton Sheen said so powerfully: “You cannot build down!” So I just wanted to thank you, brothers and sisters of the Confraternity, that you want to give resources to build a Lighthouse like OnePeterFive, which allows our content to be free for all.
Pelican Plus is the Digital Castle, a defensive refuge where we can be free from the godlessness of social media, and just be Catholics in a digital Christendom, in order to support our families in building the real Christendom in our local parish communities.
