And if sons, heirs also; heirs indeed of God, and joint heirs with Christ: yet so, if we suffer with him, that we may be also glorified with him. For I reckon that the sufferings of this time are not worthy to be compared with the glory to come, that shall be revealed in us Rom 8:17-18
The hosts of nations were arrayed against him. He was beset by anguish, sorrow, and betrayal. Karl von Habsburg was a king in exile, a father separated from his children, a man of peace in a time of war. The last years of his short life were a long Lent in which he, an emperor, ascended to God by descending–from a throne to a sickbed, from fasting to poverty, and from his generous munificence to the almsgiving of his own life. He reigns now, in a crown of glory far surpassing the cruel diadem under which he bowed his head in this mortal life.
This March, make a “Pilgrimage to Lent” with Blessed Karl at the Fifth Blessed Karl von Habsburg Symposium, held March 7-8 in Dallas, Texas. The event features an extraordinary line-up of guest speakers from across the country and the world, including several members of the Emperor’s family. The talks will explore the fascinating character of Blessed Karl as a man of peace, and offer lessons from his life for engagement with the current fraught political scene. Speakers include Princess Maria-Anna von Habsburg Galitzine, Ambassador Archduke Eduard Von Habsburg, OnePeterFive contributing editor Eric Sammons, Dr. Marcellino D’Ambrosio, and many other distinguished guests.
In addition, the Right Reverend Dom Philip Anderson OSB, Abbot of Our Lady of Clear Creek, will give a presentation on Servant of God Empress Zita, the wife of Blessed Karl. Abbot Anderson will explore how Empress Zita’s long labors for the survival of her family and for Europe were strengthened by her devotion to the Abbey of Sainte-Cécile in Solemnes.
The Symposium offers a variety of opportunities for participation for those who attend the main event, including Dinner with the Speakers (ticketed) and a very popular Sunday Social event for Singles (ticketed). Vendors and sponsors are also welcome.
The Blessed Karl Symposium offers Catholics a chance to promote the canonization cause of a great man whom God has raised up as a model of sovereignty, faithfulness, and fatherhood. If you are interested in learning more about Blessed Karl, purchasing tickets, or would like to explore all that the Symposium has to offer, please go to the Symposium website: https://www.blessedkarl.org/.
