In Baltimore earlier this week, James Grein — formerly known only as “James” in media reports — gave a powerful testimony to an audience at the “Silence Stops Now” rally. He was introduced by Michael Voris of Church Militant.
Grein says that he was abused by McCarrick for 18 years.
“Our bishops must know that the jig is up.” Grein said. “We need actions which will guarantee this problem will be addressed and addressed fairly. This can only happen if there is complete transparency and if the bishops act as true stewards of Christ’s Church. Jesus’s law is much higher than pontifical secrets.”
“It’s not Francis’s Church,” Grein continued, pausing to look at the audience. “It’s Jesus Christ’s Church.”
At this statement, the crowd erupted into loud, spontaneous applause and cheers, which transformed into a sustained standing ovation, bringing Grein to obvious tears.
“It’s time for the Church to speak.” He said. “There’s too much silence. But the silence will no longer trick us into forgetting or ignoring this scandal.”
